Goodluck Jonathan “If You Mean Well For Your People; You Wouldn’t Recruit Thugs To Kill Them”

Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the former president of Nigeria, has urged politicians and their supporters to abstain from misbehavior and violence during elections, stressing the possibility that such acts could spark crises.

GEJ emphasized in a statement that it is the duty of politicians to deter illegal activity during the election process. He specifically addressed the people living in Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa states, advising them to behave in a way that would not jeopardize the security of their own states or the country at large.

Jonathan emphasized the profound impact of misconduct during elections, stating, “We politicians, and indeed those who follow us, know that misconduct during elections could result in crises, and for us, the politicians, we must not encourage criminality in electoral processes.”

The former president conveyed a strong message about the value of human life over political ambitions, stating, “Nobody’s political ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian, and we must know that. If you meant well for your people and you want to govern them, you wouldn’t recruit thugs to kill them; you cannot kill and govern the graves; you must govern people that are alive; and you must encourage the young people to go to school or get some to do and not to be involved in thuggery.”
