Governor Lawal Breaks Silence on Defection Rumors: Clarifies Position on Dumping PDP for APC
Governor Lawal Addresses Speculations on Leaving PDP for APC

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has vehemently denied circulating rumours that he is planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement released on Friday, Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, the Governor’s Senior Special Adviser on Media, addressed the misinformation via the Facebook page of the Governor’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Mugira Yusuf.
Kaura referred to the rumours as “contrived by mischief makers” and clarified that this was not the first time such unfounded claims had surfaced.
He stated, “The rumor was concocted by mischief makers, and this is not the first time such an insinuation is being made. But outrightly, it’s not true.”
Naija News reports that this statement follows recent political shifts in the country, particularly after the governors of Enugu and Bayelsa states, Peter Mbah and Douye Diri, respectively, defected from the PDP.
While Mbah moved with his entire cabinet to the ruling APC, Diri has yet to announce his new political affiliation, with reports of his deputy failing to dump PDP.
In recent days, speculations have also been circulating that Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State might follow in the footsteps of Mbah and Diri and switch allegiances to the ruling APC.
