Even though many thought Germany would give up their last game because they had advanced to the next round following their second game, they remained adamant against their opponent in their final Group F match.
After winning their opening two games, Germany never gave up on maintaining their excellent form for the remaining games after their incredible performance against Venezuela. In the first two minutes of the match, Germany’s Ramsak opened the score. Just before halftime, Da Silva Moreira extended Germany’s lead to make it 2-0. Venezuela never truly had adequate opportunities because the Germans controlled everything. In the 58th minute, Odogu scored Germany’s third goal, bringing the score to 0-3. The German way of ending it was with them sitting on the table.
In the other Group venue, Mexico were the first half Winners with goal from Barajas in the 43rd minute against New Zealand. Fernandez de Lara’s strike just 3 minutes into the second half made it 2-0. Carrillo’s brilliance in the 55th minute and his goal from the Penalty Spot in the 68th minute gave Mexico a 4-0 lead over New Zealand. Mexico got the final win, to keep their hopes of qualifying alive.
Germany beat every opponent in the Group to gain 9 points as Leader of Group F. Mexico finished on the second spot with 4 points but were only lucky to stay ahead of Venezuela on goals difference. Venezuela’s qualifications is still in doubt as they will have to wait and count on results from other Groups. Germany cleared all their points.
