Hardship: “Hunger and frustration gripping Nigerians”

Methodist Church has lamented that economic hardship is driving hunger and frustration across Nigeria.

Speaking at a consecration ceremony for Dr. Evans Onyemara, the new General Secretary of the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), and 13 other bishops, Right Rev. Emmanuel Udofia, a senior Methodist clergyman, called on church leaders to offer stability and hope to struggling communities.

“There is hunger, frustration, and a cry for justice in our land,” Rev. Udofia stated during the event in Lagos.

He also challenged the newly consecrated bishops to lead with humility, spiritual discipline, and a pastoral approach rooted in simplicity and authenticity.

His words: “The ministry that Jesus Christ exemplified was simple, calling people to God’s Word, devoid of ambiguity or self-aggrandizement.

“A leader must be consultative and prayerful, aware of the unique challenges, whether spiritual dryness, financial strain, or leadership issues.”
