I Can’t Recall Anything This APC Government Told Us During The Campaign

Prominent northern politician and former Secretary-General of the Federation Babachir Lawal has come out to accuse the current government of failing to provide the people with any concrete promise with which it would be held accountable, as Nigerians continue to struggle with the rising cost of living brought on by unprecedented inflation in the price of goods and services.

Speaking in an interview on Wednesday on ARISE TV’s “NewsDay” show, Lawal—who left the APC in 2022 due to its divisive Muslim-Muslim ticket—argued that the reason Nigeria is experiencing an economic crisis is because the party made no promises to voters during the election campaigns.

According to him, the country will have to wait to see how the Tinubu administration plans to resuscitate the ailing economy.

He said; “Well, we will wait to see whether they have the capacity to deliver anything at all. To start with, I can’t remember anything that this APC government promised us during the campaign, so we really do not know how to hold them accountable for the things they have not said they would do.

So, I think they are now simply going day by day as they sew fit. I don’t know if they have any plans to mitigate the circumstances we have found ourselves in.”
