I Deliberately Picked Igbo Man, A Catholic, To Be My CSO-Shettima Talks About Fear Of Islamization

Kashim Ibrahim Shettima, the country’s incoming vice president, has calmed concerns about an Islamic takeover by saying that his principal, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is a Muslim man married to a Christian woman who also serves as a pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

Former Borno State Governor and current federal legislator representing Borno Central in the red chamber of the national assembly Kashim Ibrahim Shettima made this statement today at a lecture in Abuja as part of the festivities surrounding Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29.

A former governor of Lagos State and current leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, defeated Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party to win the country’s top political office.

Kashim Ibrahim Shettima claimed, “There is no Islamization agenda; I was a child of necessity.” In addition to being a devout Muslim, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is also the proud husband of a devout Christian and pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. Someone who hasn’t converted his own family to Islam but is nonetheless being accused of wanting to “Islamize the nation.”

Perception is everything in politics,” he said. I chose a Catholic Igbo man as my Chief Security Officer on purpose as we begin to create a new administration.

Many Nigerians are responding strongly on Twitter and other social media to a recent speech made by Kashim Ibrahim Shettima during the occasion.
