I Don’t Want You To Be That Governor That’ll Go To Abuja To Do Anything They Say—Wike to Fubara

During the Rivers State pre-inauguration Thanksgiving service, the incumbent Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, dished out some words of advice to the incoming governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara. Wike stated that he does not want him to be that governor who’ll go to Abuja to do anything they say.

Wike stated that the country is running a federal system of government and that the governor must be able to take decisions on his own without fear or permission.

According to him, “the time is over where people will think that they’ll dictate to us what will happen, no.” And I don’t want you to be that governor that’ll go to Abuja, and anything you do here, they say, make us do. There’s nothing like ‘make us do’. Say this is what you want to do. We’re running a federal system. When we’re to have this inauguration activity, the former commissioner for social welfare said, “When we’re talking about what they’ll do for children, we’re directed by the minister of human affairs. I said, “Ah, you have spoilt the matter.”
