If Igbo Had Been Carrying Away Money They Make In Lagos home, They Will Not Develop Lagos-According to Iwuanyanwu

If Igbos had been taking their earnings home from Lagos, according to Ohanaeze Ndigbo President-General Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, they would not have continued to live in Lagos State as they did in the past.

According to Vanguard, the Igbo leader made these remarks on Sunday while responding to inquiries from reporters in Lagos State.

Recall that President-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo socio-cultural group, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, who is known for his outspokenness had earlier visited the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu in his palace in Lagos State to discuss the ongoing demolitions of some structures reportedly owned by the Igbos in the state.

The Igbo leader said; “If Igbo had been carrying away money they make in Lagos home, they will not develop Lagos. Igbo are scattered all over the country resulting in the insult and abuse from people. It is as though it is an offence”

He added; “Wherever Igbo go, they contribute to the internally generated revenue and the gross domestic product of the country. We feel that our people should encourage them and be happy to have them rather than insult, abuse or threatening them to go”

He stated further; “Unlike many people who go to their home to develop, they (Igbo) regard wherever they go as a home. That is the culture of the Igbo and I think it is the best. I think Nigerians should be congratulating them. Nigerians should praise Igbo for having this kind of habit of going to a place, working in the place and then investing whatever they have in further expanding the place”
