If They Had Chosen To Remove The President, It Would Have Caused A Significant Political Earthquake

Following the ruling by the Supreme Court, which confirmed Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory in the general elections of 2023, seasoned journalist and public affairs analyst Dr. Constance Ikokwu has rejected assertions that the public was taken aback by the court’s decision.

Speaking on Thursday night, Ikokwu contended that Tinubu’s victory at the top court wasn’t shocking because some Nigerians had lost faith in the legal system in an interview on ARISE TV’s “Prime Time” show.

According to the veteran journalist, there would have been a widespread political upset if the 7-man panel of Justices at the Supreme Court had chosen to go in the opposite direction and unseat the president.

She said; “Today’s judgment wasn’t a political upset. I think a lot of people knew that this was going to happen because they didn’t have confidence in the court. It would have been a huge political upset if they decided to unseat the President.

He is already on the seat, and has all the instruments of power at his disposal. And it would have been real magic to have seen the opposite happen. So, here we are, it is what it is.”
