IGP, Resign From Office If You Can’s Stop The Extortion In Checkpoints Within Seven 7Days—Nwaebonyi

The 10th National Assembly will call the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, to account for the numerous amounts extorted from defenseless Nigerians at checkpoints, according to senator-elect Barr. Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, who represents the Ebonyi North senatorial zone.

Nwaebonyi called on the IGP, Usman, to resign from office if he will not halt the extortion at checkpoints when speaking to newsmen hours after a Thanksgiving ceremony at the ecumenical center in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi state.

According to Daily Post, the senator bemoaned the ongoing intimidation, harassment, and torture of innocent Nigerians at checkpoints around the nation, particularly in the capital city of Abuja, at the hands of violent police personnel.

If the extortion cannot be stopped within seven (7) days, he demanded that Usman Akali Baba, the IGP, resign from his position.

“I have watched the actions of the uniformed men with horror, not just in Onuebonyi Junction but all over Nigeria. I have travelled all throughout the nation.

“Policemen will stop you even in the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT, Abuja, but they won’t look at what you have; instead, they’ll be curious to see how much you’ll give them. They would occasionally go grab your balance for you if you offer them 1,000 naira.

According to your judgment, they will charge you any sum of money they deem appropriate. We will talk about these at the 10th National Assembly, among other topics. This insanity has to stop. A banana republic is not Nigeria. A federation exists here. The rule of law is also present.

“It should be institutionalized if the Nigerian government uses the police to collect taxes on the roads. We must stop remaining silent. It shouldn’t go on anymore.

This is a widespread robbery of defenseless Nigerians. The police will let us through after they (we, the big men) have cleared us. However, regular individuals will be present and will be robbed with weapons. Wow, what a nation. The giant of Africa is Nigeria. It is unable to go on.

I have video evidence of more than one hundred of these extortions taking place right now, and the Inspector General of Police, IGP, will be called when the 10th National Assembly is inaugurated.

“We will give him (IGP) this poser, can’t this stop? If it can’t stop within seven (7) days, he should leave the office. He is not qualified to be Inspector General of Police.

“We will tell ourselves the truth. The Angels will not come down to reshape this country, it is we, ourselves will do it. The right thing must be done,” he stated.
