IMF Reaches Staff-Level Agreement With Tanzania For $441 Million Financing

44

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced on Thursday that it had reached a staff-level agreement with Tanzanian authorities for access to approximately $441 million in financing. This agreement, once approved, will provide a significant boost to Tanzania’s economy, marking a key step in the country’s efforts to strengthen its fiscal and economic resilience.

The agreement covers the fifth review under the IMF’s Extended Credit Facility (ECF) and the second review under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF). These arrangements are part of Tanzania’s broader strategy to maintain macroeconomic stability and accelerate sustainable development, particularly in the face of global economic challenges.

The agreement is expected to help the nation tackle financial challenges, while also boosting investor confidence and creating opportunities for inclusive growth.

Once the agreement is approved, Tanzania will receive the financial support in phases, with additional discussions expected to finalise the details of the disbursement process.
