Imo State: Why I’ll never congratulate Uzodimma

Athan Achonu, the Labour Party candidate in the recent governorship election in Imo State, has strongly denied the rumor that he visited and congratulated the winner of the election, Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress.

In a statement released on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Chibuikem Diala, Achonu asserted that he is the rightful winner of the election and dismissed the idea of visiting and congratulating Uzodimma as mere wishful thinking.

The statement labeled the rumor as a malicious fabrication, suggesting it was created by those with evil intentions.

“After foisting the worst electoral heist on Imo State, the governor and his bootlickers are spreading fake news purporting that his opponents in last Saturday’s election had paid him a congratulatory visit,” Diala said.

Additionally, Achonu criticized the congratulatory story as being poorly written and immature.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Achonu had since categorically rejected the result declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and called for its review and cancellation.

“He had also held a joint press briefing with Samuel Anyanwu (SamDaddy), the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, and insisted that the result of the governorship election must be reviewed or cancelled, warning that unless the INEC did so, the people might revolt,” Diala said.
