The Department of State Security (DSS) has issued a stern warning to all of the subversive elements that are responsible for the crises that are happening in Nigeria.
The announcement was made following the arrest of an aide to a notorious Islamic cleric, Sheikh Abubakar Ahmad Gumi, known as Tukur Mamu, by agents of the secret police.
The DSS has claimed that Mamu has connections with both domestic and foreign terrorists in light of the lawsuit filed against him in a court to detain him for sixty days.
There are indications that Islamic cleric Gumi, who is based in Kaduna, and other people would be arrested because the Director- General of the DSS, Yusuf Magaji Bichi, has threatened to go after others who are affiliated with terrorists.
A source within DSS who spoke with Leadership shared the information that Gumi has been publicly criticizing the arrest and detention of Mamu.
The move that Gumi took, according to the source can make him a person of interest in the investigation.
The source said, ” Mamu who is a close associate of Gumi was found with $151, 000, military accouterments, gun magazines, and other incriminating items and yet Gumi is talking about his release instead of allowing justice to take its cause” .
Meanwhile, it is important to know that the Coalition for Peace in Nigeria (COPIN), through its National Coordinator Emeka Akwuobi and Secretary Fatih Yakub, has requested that Ahmad Gumi should be arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS).
