IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu Claims Innocence: ‘No Charges in My Case File’

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has declined to open his defence in the terrorism case filed against him by the Federal Government (FG).

At the resumed court sitting on Monday, Kanu, who recently dismissed his legal team and chose to represent himself, told the court that he found no valid charge against him after reviewing his case file.

“There’s No Law Supporting These Charges”

Speaking during the session, Kanu said: “Join me in praising God. I have gone through my case file, and there is no charge against me.”

He argued that the prosecution failed to cite any existing law that supports the charges brought against him.

“There is no extant law in this country upon which the prosecution can predicate the charges against me. If there’s any, let my Lord read it out to me,” he added.

Kanu Demands Release or Bail

Kanu maintained that it would be unjust to defend himself against a “non-existent” charge. He urged the judge to either release him immediately or grant him bail.

The case has been adjourned for further hearing as the court considers his position.

However, this statement by Nnamdi Kanu has triggered numerous reactions on social media as some Nigerians keep wondering how it will end.
