Is he in good health?

Aloy Ejimakor, counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of isolating Kanu and blocking all visitors, including his legal team.

According to Ejimakor, the DSS’s actions directly violate court orders that allow for routine visitation to Kanu.

In a statement released on behalf of Kanu’s legal team, Ejimakor stated, “The DSS blocked the legal team from seeing Mazi Kanu during a routine visit to its headquarters in Abuja, despite a court-ordered visitation schedule.”

He said the DSS has not allowed any visitors since Kanu’s last court appearance on September 24, 2024, during which Kanu requested the recusal of Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako from his case.

Though the recusal was later vacated by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Ejimakor suggested that Kanu’s isolation may be related to these legal developments.

Ejimakor expressed concern over the DSS’s actions, noting that past court applications to enforce compliance with visitation orders have not been heard, creating the impression that the DSS operates above the law.

He further emphasized the importance of the visits, stating they allow Kanu’s family and lawyers to check on his well-being and health.

With visits completely blocked, Ejimakor questioned, “Is Mazi Nnamdi Kanu hale and hearty?”

The DSS has yet to comment on these allegations.
