Joint Security Operatives Arrest Monarch’s Grandson, Accomplice For Supplying Hard Drugs To Bandits

The Joint Security Task Force in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi state has apprehended two individuals involved in the supply of hard drugs and prohibited substances to criminal elements operating within the area.
The successful operation was carried out in collaboration with the Egbe Joint Security Squad, as part of the ongoing clampdown on criminal collaborators aiding bandit activities across the local government.
One of the suspects, Olumide Babawale, an indigene of Egbe in Kogi State, was identified as an apprentice to a drug dealer, an Igbo man, arrested two months ago by security forces for supplying hard drugs and other prohibited substances to criminals. The principal suspect had been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) but was later reportedly released under unclear circumstances.
Recent intelligence reports led to the arrest of a Hausa man suspected to be another supplier of the same illegal substances to criminal networks. Upon interrogation, he confessed and led security operatives to the arrest of Olumide Babawale, thereby exposing a recurring syndicate operating across ethnic lines to supply hard drugs to bandits.
In a related development, another suspect, Jeremiah Dada, son of Oba Rotimi Dada of Ilemla, Egbe, was arrested for supplying varieties of Cannabis Sativa, including what is known as Colorado and Arizona, to criminal elements hiding in the forest.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to Yagba West Local Government Council, Adeyemi Babarinde Sunday, both suspects have been arraigned before the competent court of jurisdiction. Their trial commenced today, and they have been remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Facility, Kabba, pending the conclusion of investigations and final judgment.
The Executive Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area and Chairman of Kogi State ALGON, Hon. Tosin Olokun, commended the security operatives for their sustained vigilance and renewed synergy with the Egbe Joint Security Squad. He reiterated that the ongoing operations against criminal collaborators and their sponsors will continue until every illicit network is completely dismantled.
Hon. Olokun reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to restoring lasting peace and sanity to all parts of Yagba West, warning residents to desist from harboring, aiding, or engaging in any transaction that empowers criminal groups.
He assured that the local government, in partnership with relevant security agencies, will not relent in pursuing justice and enforcing the law against anyone found culpable.
