Journalist attacked at Oba Adekeye 66th birthday with Dapo Abiodun, OBJ present

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ogun State has demanded an apology from Governor Ademola Adeleke after security officers attached to him attacked a reporter Bunmi Adigun. The incident occurred on Friday, during the 66th birthday celebration of the Abepa of Joga-Orile, Oba Adeyemi Adekeye, where Adeleke, Dapo Abiodun and Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was in attendance.

Adigun, recounting the event said “Though the governor was amiable, but his security details were unruly. They started misbehaving immediately the governor arrived, pushing and harassing every journalist, including those who came with other special guests from Osun State.

According to the Quest Times, The Ogun NUJ responded through its State Chairman, Wale Olanrewaju via a statement issued on Saturday, condemning the attack as unjustifiable and a violation of press freedom. The event on the other hand was an overall success with Dapo Abiodun sharing photos from the event on his X handle. He wrote: “We gathered with the kind-hearted people of Jogaland to celebrate the of His Royal Highness, Oba (Dr.) Adeyemi Alani Adekeye, Lagori III, Abepa of Jogaland, on his 66th birthday and 20th coronation anniversary.
