Junior Pope: AGN suspends movies involving boat rides

The Actors Guild of Nigeria has decided to halt all film productions that involve riverine areas and boat rides in light of the devastating boat accident that resulted in the loss of Nollywood actor, Junior Pope, and three crew members.

This was revealed by the guild’s president, Ejezie Rollas, in a circular dated April 11, 2024, which was shared on social media on Thursday.
Actors are also prohibited from appearing in any Adanma Luke-produced movies for the time being.

Prior to his passing, Junior Pope starred in the film “The other side of life,” which Luke produced.

The AGN statement read, “Following the tragic incident of a boat mishap that claimed the life of Junior Pope and three other crew members at waterside of River Niger Cable point Asaba on April 10, all films that involve riverine areas and boat riding are hereby suspended indefinitely.

“There should be no shoot on all locations nationwide on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

“The film titled ‘The other side of Life’ is suspended indefinitely.

“Also, no actor is allowed to work with Adamma Luke as a producer till further notice.

“While we keep searching for the bodies of the remaining persons, may their souls rest in peace.”

On Wednesday, word leaked out that Junior Pope and four other members of the crew perished in an accident while being transported by boat from the filming location.

Junior Pope was receiving treatment and had survived, according to a post shared by Rollas on his social media account.

He later deleted the post.
