During a media chat at the Government House, Uzodinma revealed that the decision followed extensive discussions with the Imo Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

The governor highlighted the importance of the new wage, stating that it aims to alleviate the financial strain caused by inflation.

“We are committed to enhancing the well-being of the State’s workforce amid economic stagnation,” Uzodinma said.

He further emphasized his government’s dedication to ensuring workers receive fair compensation for contributing to the state’s economic development.

Uzodinma urged civil servants to boost productivity in response to the new wage structure, encouraging them to deliver high-quality services to the people of Imo State.

In line with our commitment to Imo workers, I held a productive meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in the State to draft modalities for the swift implementation of the new national minimum wage,” the governor stated. He expressed optimism that the implementation would commence soon.

Confirming this development, Comrade Chigemezu Nwigwe, Chairman of the Imo State Chapter of the NLC, commended the government’s dedication to workers’ welfare.

Nwigwe affirmed that plans for promptly implementing the N70,000 minimum wage were underway.
