JUST IN – EFCC Chairman Olukoyede Nearly Breaks Down In Fresh Video While Detailing How Yahaya Bello Withdrew $720,000 From Kogi Govt Account To Prepay For His Child’s School Fees –

In a resolute declaration underscoring the EFCC’s unwavering commitment to justice, Chairman Ola Olukoyede has pledged to pursue the prosecution of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, until its logical conclusion.

Speaking to journalists at the EFCC Headquarters in Abuja’s Jabi area on Tuesday, Olukoyede affirmed his readiness to resign if Bello evades prosecution, promising to hold accountable all those who obstructed the former governor’s arrest.

The EFCC’s case against Bello revolves around 19 counts of alleged money laundering, breach of trust, and misappropriation of funds amounting to a staggering N80.2 billion.

Despite any resistance or attacks against the anti-graft agency, Olukoyede remains steadfast in his determination to cleanse the nation of corruption, emphasizing the indispensable role of Nigerian support in the agency’s success.

Legal proceedings intensified as the EFCC served a copy of the charge sheet to Bello’s lawyer, Abdulwahab Mohamed, following the former governor’s absence in court.

Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja invoked Section 384(4 and 5) of the Administrative and Criminal Justice Act 2015, allowing for substituted service due to Bello’s non-appearance.

Despite initial reluctance, Bello’s lawyer was compelled to accept the charges and proof of evidence. The court rejected pleas to assign a junior lawyer to accept the charges on Bello’s behalf, emphasizing the gravity of the charges levied against him.

In response, a member of Bello’s legal team cited concerns over fair hearing and justice, asserting the former governor’s willingness to face the charges and cooperate with the court proceedings.

The defense urged the court to set aside the ex-parte order of arrest issued earlier, arguing that Bello had not been served the charges at the time of the order.

As legal proceedings unfold, the EFCC remains resolute in its pursuit of justice, undeterred by legal maneuvers or evasive tactics.

Olukoyede’s unwavering stance reflects the agency’s steadfast commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring accountability for all, regardless of status or influence.
