Workers commended Mbah’s policies, programs, and projects, which they believe are rapidly transforming the state. Governor Mbah, speaking through Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai, reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of the people and workers.

He emphasized his intention to move beyond immediate palliatives like wage awards and create sustainable wealth, systems, and institutions that alleviate the financial burdens faced by workers.

Through the Chairmen of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ben Asogwa and Comrade Fabian Nwigbo respectively, the workers presented their commendations during the May Day celebration.

Comrade Nwigbo stated, “We express our heartfelt gratitude for your worker-friendly policies, which have resulted in significant benefits for the people of Enugu State, particularly workers.”

He highlighted key achievements:

* Extensive water projects to provide clean drinking water

* Plans to expand Enugu State’s economy to $30 billion

* Clearance of pension arrears and regular payments

* Wage awards to state workers and teachers

* Prompt salary payments

* Promotions and smart school construction

* Road construction and rehabilitation

* Enhanced security, eliminating sit-at-home protests

However, the workers requested the Mbah administration to:

* Commence payment of gratuity arrears after verification

* Settle pension arrears for state parastatal, primary school, and local government retirees

* Pay inherited annual leave allowance arrears

* Train and retain workers to boost productivity

* Support the completion of the new labor secretariat

Comrade Nwigbo urged workers to reciprocate the governor’s support with increased productivity and discipline.

Governor Mbah, represented by the Deputy Governor, expressed gratitude for the workers’ support and industry. He promised to address their remaining demands.

“We understand the current challenges, but we request your patience as we strive to improve the lives of workers within government’s means,” he said. “Our focus on wealth creation, investment attraction, and job creation aims to provide better-paying opportunities for our people.”
