In a shocking revelation, Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, disclosed that he was once forced to make a heartbreaking choice between his son and his then-wife. Aloba shared this distressing incident while clarifying a line in Mohbad’s song, “Sorry”.
According to Aloba, his ex-wife, who was also Mohbad’s first stepmother, issued him an ultimatum, demanding that he choose between her and Mohbad. Aloba made the difficult decision to stand by his son, leading to the stepmother leaving the family.
He explained, “The stepmother told me one day, ‘Choose me or your son.’ I chose my son (Mohbad) and she packed her loads and left. I and the lady were together for more than seven years. I married her around 2005. That stepmother did not want me to send Mohbad to school, and I chose my son. And she decided to leave.”
This revelation sheds light on the complicated dynamics within Mohbad’s family, adding a poignant layer to the lyrics of his song.
Mohbad, a rising star in the music industry, tragically passed away at the young age of 27 on September 12. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, prompting the Lagos State Police Command to initiate an investigation into the case.
