The Senate has affirmed that it has no intention of reducing its expenses, even in the face of the economic challenges resulting from the removal of fuel subsidies.
Senator Yemi Adaramodu, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, made this assertion during an address to journalists in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Monday, August 4. He emphasized that the National Assembly bears no responsibility for the economic difficulties currently faced by Nigeria.
Senator Adaramodu highlighted the significant and vital roles played by lawmakers, including committee work and oversight responsibilities, without receiving any additional allowances. He insisted that calls for expense reductions within the Senate hold no validity.
Senator Adaramodu made these statements shortly after a tribunal ruled in his favor, affirming his electoral victory against Senator Biodun Olujimi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
