A famous actress, known for her work on stage and screen, has died peacefully at the age of 95.
The actress identified as Dame Joan Plowright had a career lasted over 70 years and included major achievements like an Oscar nomination for Enchanted April (1991) and a Tony Award for A Taste of Honey (1960).
She also starred with Sir Laurence Olivier in The Entertainer (1960) and became an important member of the National Theatre. She received a Bafta nomination for her role in Equus (1978) and retired in 2014 due to losing her eyesight.
Her family shared that she spent her final years in Sussex, surrounded by friends and family, with lots of laughter and happy memories.
They described her as a strong and loving person who faced challenges with courage and determination.
