Kano APC urges members to fast as Governor Yusuf heads to Supreme Court

The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has requested its members and traders who suffered losses due to the demolition of illegal structures to observe a day of fasting today.

Abdullahi Abbas, the chairman of the party, delivered an audio message to party loyalists, calling for fervent prayers as a way of thanking the party for their recent victory at the Court of Appeal on Friday.

This call for fasting coincides with the decision of the state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), to challenge the appellate court’s judgment at the Supreme Court.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf announced his intention to appeal the judgment at the Supreme Court.

He expressed confidence that the Supreme Court will rectify the alleged miscarriages of justice by the tribunal and Court of Appeal and uphold the mandate given to him by the people of Kano State.

He expressed optimism that “the Supreme Court will, by the grace of Allah, set aside these miscarriages of justice by the tribunal and Court of Appeal and reaffirm his mandate given by the people of Kano State.”
