Kounde prepared to quit Barcelona over regular use at right-back

In the summertime transfer window, Jules Koundé might leave Barça. The player has admitted internally, as ‘Relevo’ reported, that he is not happy in his right-back position and that he would be open to offers to leave if there was a fair deal for everyone, which SPORT has been able to confirm.

The coaching staff was taken aback by Koundé’s stance because he has played virtually every position when he has been available, and Barça is not reacting with fright at the new developments. They make it quite obvious that they must sell and that they will not repress anyone. The French centre back is disappointed that Xavi prefers to deploy him as a right-back over a center-back after last weekend’s halftime substitute against Real Sociedad. In reality, Andreas Christensen and Ronald Arajo, who are both without a doubt the best combo at the moment, are the current front-runners.

The addition of Inigo Martinez, which Kounde does not at all clearly perceive, might solidify his position as a full-back, as well. Even though his season-ending performances have been erratic, there is no denying that he is a top-tier player. After protracted talks with Sevilla, Barça agreed to pay 55 million euros for him. Koundé refused Chelsea’s offer in favour of joining Barça because he was adamant about going to the club, and Xavi persuaded him that he would start at centre back for the entire season, which hasn’t happened.

Barça will now need to control the situation in order to determine whether the action was a hasty reaction or a final choice. The Blaugrana already know that Chelsea are willing to pay more for him in the event that he decides to leave than Barça paid Sevilla last summer. Additionally, the Catalan club might benefit financially from the operation.
