Losing My Mum Wasn’t a Shock – Here’s Why

Bobby Williams Adeoye, the son of late gospel singer Omije Ojumi, has shared his thoughts on his mother’s death.

Williams said he was not completely shocked by the news because she often talked about death while she was alive.

Naija News reports that he spoke during the service of songs held in her honour, where he remembered her as a woman who gave her whole life to raising him and making sure he succeeded in everything he did.

He described her as caring, kind and very strong, saying she always pushed him to do well both at home and in school.

According to him, his mother took a deep interest in his daily life and always wanted to know how his day went whenever he returned from school.

He explained that her concern and constant encouragement made him feel loved and supported at all times.

He also recalled her cheerful nature, saying their home was always full of laughter because she loved to joke and make people happy.

He added that her sense of humour is one of the things he misses the most since she passed away.

Bobby said that when he heard about her death, it did not come as a total shock to him because she had spoken about it many times in the past.

Still, he noted that the pain of losing her remains heavy, adding that she will always live on in his heart and memories.

He said: “My mother was a very loving, beautiful, and caring person to me, actually. So she was very, very strong. She will do anything to see me come first in anything, or even in class. Anytime I come back from school, she always wants to know what happened. So, that is the loving part about mommy. She’s the best mother in the world to me.

“When I heard she was dead, I was not that surprised because she had always been saying it. She has always been saying it. She cracked jokes to make everyone lively, and that’s the main reason why I also miss Mommy. I know you’re dead right now, but you will always be alive in my heart and in my dreams. I love you mommy. May your soul rest in peace.”

Omije Ojumi, whose real name is Bunmi Akinaanu Adeoye, died on January 12, 2026.
