The Falconets of Nigeria, who defeated Tanzania U-20 Women 2-1 on Sunday at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja, have secured their place in the next round of the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualification campaign.
As anticipated, the Nigerian ladies dominated possession early in the game, setting up Janet Akekoromowei’s spectacular goal in the 20th minute to give the Falconets the much-needed lead. But five minutes later, Jamila Rajani Mnunduka’s incredible shot leveled the score, giving the visitors newfound confidence going into halftime as they managed to hold onto the draw.
The Falconets grew stronger in the second half of the fascinating encounter in Abuja on Sunday afternoon, as they regained their lead in the 60th minute thanks to Comfort Folorunsho who scored a stunning header to seal the game for the Nigerian ladies.
