May 29: I Can Hardly Cope, Desperately Looking Forward To Handing Over – Buhari Laments

President Muhammadu Buhari has stated his desire to give over power in the coming days. He will hand over to President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on May 29.

Buhari spoke at the conclusion of a Regimental Dinner hosted by the Armed Forces in his honor at the newly commissioned Nigerian Armed Forces Officers’ Mess in Asokoro, Abuja. The President was accompanied by the Federation’s Secretary to the Government Boss Mustapha, the Minister of Defense, Major General Salihi Magashi, the Chief of Defense Staff, General Lucky Irabor, and the Service Chiefs.

Buhari, who came at the occasion extremely late, apologized, stating that he had been under enormous pressure catching up with the multiplicity of events planned for the inauguration, as well as wrapping up official tasks of his office. Before virtually inaugurating six other projects across the country, the President officially commissioned the new Nigerian Customs Service headquarters buildings in Maitama District of the FCT.

He also presided over another special Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, which lasted from lunchtime to late Tuesday evening, before departing for the Regimental Dinner. “Please allow me to deviate slightly from my prepared speech.” “I sincerely apologize for keeping you waiting for at least half an hour, actually I can hardly cope with the pressure and I’m desperately looking forward to the next six days,” he told the crowd just before saying good night at around 11 p.m.
