NDLEA Storms Lagos Nightclub, Arrests Pretty Mike and Over 100 Partygoers
NDLEA Arrests Pretty Mike and 100 Others in Lagos Club Drug Raid
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested over 100 suspects, including Lagos socialite and club owner Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, following a midnight raid at Proxy Night Club, located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The operation, which began in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, 2025, was launched after intelligence reports indicated that the venue was hosting a drug party.
In a statement on Sunday, the NDLEA said its officers recovered cartons of illicit substances, including Loud (a strong strain of cannabis) and laughing gas (nitrous oxide), from both partygoers and the club’s storage areas.
“NDLEA operatives, who were embedded at the party from 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, disrupted the gathering around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday in line with Standard Operating Procedures,” the statement read.
All arrested suspects were taken into custody for screening, while exhibits were secured as part of ongoing investigations.
In a separate operation, NDLEA operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, intercepted 70 parcels of cocaine weighing 3.60 kilograms concealed inside cocoa butter body cream containers destined for London, United Kingdom.
The illegal shipment, discovered on October 14, 2025, during examination of cargoes labelled as “personal effects” on an Air Peace flight, led to the arrest of a cargo agent, Lawal Mustapha Olakunle, who presented the consignment.
Subsequent investigations spanning two weeks uncovered a wider drug network, resulting in the arrest of a female healthcare worker, Ogunmuyide Taiwo Deborah, on October 18, and Mutiu Adebayo Adebiyi, CEO of Mutiu Adebiyi & Co Travel Agency, at his Ikeja GRA office on October 20.
According to NDLEA, the suspects were linked to an organised attempt to smuggle the class A drug into the UK under the guise of cosmetics exports.
At the Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA), Enugu, NDLEA operatives thwarted an attempt by a 35-year-old Lesotho national, Lemena Mark, to export 103.59 grams of methamphetamine concealed in a Diabeta Herbs coffee tea pack to the Philippines via an Ethiopian Airlines flight on October 22.
Similarly, in Kwara State, NDLEA officers arrested Umar Abubakar (40) with 21,950 capsules of Tramadol (250mg) hidden inside a 100-litre water heater during a stop-and-search operation at Bode Saadu, Moro Local Government Area, on October 21.
In Taraba State, two suspects, Auwal Musa (26) and Salihu Bala (22), were intercepted at Dan-Anacha checkpoint with 450,000 pills of Tramadol and Exol-5 concealed in a truck transporting building materials from Onitsha, Anambra State, to Mubi, Adamawa State.
Massive Cannabis and ‘Skuchies’ Seizures Across States
In a coordinated series of raids across multiple states, NDLEA officers recovered large quantities of skunk and other psychoactive substances:
In Kogi State, officers seized 162.2kg of skunk from a truck on the Okene–Lokoja Highway on October 24.
In Nasarawa State, 128kg of skunk was recovered from Abubakar Muhammad (55) in Keffi on October 22.
A raid at Lot Camp, Ikun Akoko, Ondo State, recovered 150kg of skunk, while Bashir Mohammad (50) and Samini Ahmed Tijjani (35) were arrested with 234.5kg of the substance at Yan Aya, Saminaka, Kaduna State, on October 24.
In Badagry, Lagos, Jacob Ojugbele was arrested with 55kg of skunk, and Amusa Oluwabukola with 121.3 litres of “skuchies”, a dangerous cocktail made from blackcurrant drink, cannabis, and opioids.
NDLEA operatives also arrested a mother of two, Oyonumoh Glory Effiong, described as a major distributor of Canadian and California “Loud” across Lekki, Ajah, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, and VGC.
She was apprehended on October 17 during a raid at her Lekki home, where 500 grams of Loud were recovered.
In Abia State, a 75-year-old grandfather, Echendu Onuoka, was arrested at Ovum village, Obingwa LGA, with 4.7kg of skunk, while a 60-year-old grandmother, Aukana John, was nabbed with 225 grams of the same substance at Apanta village in the same area.
In Ikorodu, Lagos, NDLEA officers raided the residence of Ogunyabo Adenigbigbe at Solomade Estate, where 275 litres of skuchies were seized on October 23.
In Zamfara State, operatives on patrol along the Gummi–Anka Road arrested Abubakar Ibrahim (30) with an AK-47 rifle and 1,746 rounds of assorted ammunition meant for AK-47 and GPMG rifles, allegedly being transported to Bagega Forest, Anka LGA.
The NDLEA stated that the suspect and exhibits had been handed over to the appropriate security agency for further investigation.
On the Abuja–Kaduna Highway, two suspects, Isah Usman (50) and Salvation Okoler (18), were arrested with 8,600 pills of Tramadol (225mg) and Rohypnol.
The agency said all operations were part of an ongoing national anti-drug enforcement drive to dismantle criminal networks and disrupt the supply of illicit substances nationwide.
“These seizures and arrests send a strong signal to criminal elements that there will be no hiding place for drug traffickers and syndicates anywhere in Nigeria,” the NDLEA said.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with other law enforcement agencies, security services, and international partners to curb the growing threat of drug trafficking and abuse.
