Nigeria set to host the 2024 Tennis Davis Cup

Nigeria has been granted the esteemed privilege of hosting the highly anticipated 2024 Tennis Davis Cup.

Nigeria’s tennis players are gearing up for the 2024 Davis Cup Africa Group II qualifying rounds with the advantage of home support, as the country has secured the rights to host the event.

After an impressive performance in Kigali, Rwanda, in 2023, where they qualified for Group III alongside Ghana, the Nigerian team, led by David Ekpenyong, Uche Oparaoji, Wilson Igbinovia, Peter Lawal, and Christopher Bulus under the guidance of Coach Benson Ishicheli, is poised to continue their success.

With the confirmation of hosting rights, the qualifying matches for Group II will take place in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja.

The bid to host the event was submitted earlier this year, and the president of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, Engr. Ifedayo Akindoju, has announced that the event will commence on July 15, 2024.

The Secretary General of the Federation, Makpa Aliyu, also noted that it has now been made official by the ITF via a letter sent to the national body.
