Nigerian Army Responds After Kaduna Kidnappers Demand N1bn Ransom For Over 200 Children And Teachers

The Nigerian Defence Headquarters reportedly informed Sahara Reporters on Friday that the place where more than 200 teachers and children are being held captive by terrorists is hard to reach.

Terrorists recently abducted more than 200 teachers and students from a school in Kuriga, Kaduna State. But current reports state that the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N1 billion, which needs to be paid in 27 days.

While reacting to the abduction, The Director of Defence Media and Operations, Major General Edward Buba, revealed that the abductors are Terrorists and not Bandits. Speaking further, he noted that the Nigerian Army have taken out their Leaders and they are using the victims as human shields for their survival.

Buba said, “we have depleted their ranks, and neutralised many of their commanders and foot soldiers. The terrorists exhibited gross cowardice by going after children. We have taken their Commanders out.

“These hostages are being held in locations that are difficult to get to, but not out of reach. The situation is however indicative of the desperation of these terrorists to avoid troops’ onslaught by all means.”

In conclusion, he said, “these terrorists have exhibited cowardice by going for such soft targets to impede troops’ advances. I assure you that we will not rest until they are returned.”
