Fashanu Shines in Brazil as Nigerian Star Wins U-20 Trophy, Eyes Super Eagles Debut

Nigerian forward, Michael Ifeoluwa Fashanu, has continued to attract attention in Brazil after playing a pivotal role in Fortaleza’s U-20 victory in the Ceará State Championship.
Fashanu netted seven goals and provided two assists to help his side clinch the youth title, performances that have drawn praise from local media and heightened calls for his inclusion in Nigeria’s national setup.
The 20-year-old striker began his football journey at Dynamic Plus Soccer Academy in Lagos before securing a move to Fortaleza through a scouting programme organised by ATJ Sports and Trivella Brazil. His progress in less than a year has placed him among the most promising Nigerian talents abroad.
Dreaming of the green and white
Reacting to his recent success, Fashanu expressed his desire to represent the Super Eagles.
“Winning in a football country like Brazil is a dream. But my bigger dream is to wear the green and white of Nigeria. I am ready to give my best if given the chance,” he said.
Rising profile in Brazil
Brazilian outlets have described the young striker as “red hot,” highlighting his strength, eye for goal, and ability to influence big games. Fortaleza officials are also monitoring his rapid development with hopes he could break into the senior team in the near future.
