Mr. Peter Obi, the Former Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, spoke in a Twitter Space on Saturday, stating that Nigerians would have experienced some hardship if he were President. However, he emphasized that the extent of hardship would not have been as severe as it is today. He attributed the challenges facing the implementation of good policies in Nigeria to the deep-rooted issue of corruption. According to him, politicians need to be intentional in managing the country’s revenue properly.
He expressed, ”Before implementing any policy, there must be careful formulation and execution. This doesn’t mean Nigerians would not have faced some difficulties under my leadership, but it wouldn’t be as grave as the current situation. The problem we face today is being stuck in outdated thinking.
If we remain trapped in that mindset, we won’t be able to envision tomorrow. The number one problem is corruption, and if all politicians decide to put an end to it, we can overcome it. We must ensure that all the country’s revenue is accounted for and used judiciously.”
