NNPP breaks silence on Kwankwaso’s alleged move to defect to APC after meeting with Tinubu in Paris

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has addressed concerns among its supporters regarding the possible defection of their Presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The apprehension arose after Kwankwaso met with President- elect Bola Tinubu in Paris, France, where the duo discussed several national issues.

The Punch reported that the spokesperson of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Dr Major Agbo, held a press conference in Abuja to alleviate fears and affirm that there was no cause for alarm.

Dr Agbo described Kwankwaso as a politician who transcends tribal and political boundaries, emphasizing that his relationships extend across various political and religious affiliations.

His words: ” I don’ t want you to be afraid that he is going anywhere. He is not going anywhere. Like I said, he is one man whose relationship cuts across all political platforms. You will see more of that. ”

Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, who ran on the platform of the NNPP in the February 25, 2023 presidential elections, is reportedly plotting a return to the APC to play an active role in Tinubu’ s administration.

According to sources, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Kwankwaso met for hours in Paris, capital of France.

The former Lagos governor reportedly told Kwankwaso to reach out to his political associates on the need to work together.

The incoming president and his guest were said to have agreed to hold subsequent meetings.

But beyond that, it was gathered that the president- elect had offered a ministerial position to Kwankwaso.

” He told the NNPP leader to choose between the ministry of agriculture and that of education, ” one of our sources said.

It is not clear whether Kwankwaso will accept to serve as a minister in the event they sealed the partnership or he will give the slot to one of his loyalists.
