No Core Northerner Included in FG’s 20 Content Creators for Tax Reform Awareness — Bashir Ahmad

Former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has raised concern over the Federal Government’s newly released list of 20 content creators selected to support public education on ongoing tax reforms, noting that the compilation does not include any creator from the core northern region.

In a post on X on Saturday, Ahmad said the selection process appeared unclear and argued that the list showed an imbalance that failed to reflect the country’s regional diversity.

He maintained that a national tax education initiative should feature creators who can effectively engage audiences across all parts of the country to ensure broad understanding of the reforms.

He said, “I honestly have 100% no idea what metric or criteria were used to select what was described as the Top 20 content creators out of the 8,591 nominations received. Looking at the list alone, one can immediately notice the glaring imbalance and misrepresentation, I couldn’t find a single creator from the core North.

“Considering that tax reform affects every citizen across all regions, one would naturally expect that those selected to educate the public on such a critical issue would reflect a fair spread across the country, to ensure that the message reaches every community in a language and voice they understand.

“If the goal is truly to educate Nigerians effectively, then I humbly urge the relevant authorities to revisit this process and broaden the selection to include more diverse creators from every part of the country.”

His comments followed the announcement by the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, which published the “Top 20 Content Creators for Tax Reform Education” after receiving 8,591 nominations.

The chosen creators are expected to undergo a training session to enhance their knowledge of the new tax laws before communicating the information to their audiences.
