Northerners Will Not Vote For Tinubu Again –Adebanjo

Chief Ayo Adebanjo, leader of Afenifere, has called upon President Bola Tinubu to prioritize constitutional reform as a means of securing his legacy and averting national fragmentation.

In an interview with The Sun, Adebanjo urged Tinubu to focus on revising Nigeria’s constitution rather than seeking a second term, emphasizing the turmoil stemming from historical military influence.

Addressing various pressing issues, including national security and corruption in the National Assembly, Adebanjo expressed skepticism about Tinubu’s reelection prospects, particularly in the North. He cautioned Tinubu against misinterpreting the purported support from the North, advising him to concentrate on leaving a lasting legacy instead.

“I’ll say it again, the North will not vote for him again because all that he’s doing now is not favourable to them,” Adebanjo stated. “Let him know they’re pretending that they are supporting him. He should take the bull by the horn and leave a legacy behind.”

Adebanjo stressed the significance of Tinubu’s commitment to overhauling the constitution, asserting that such action could solidify his place in history, irrespective of electoral outcomes. He encouraged Tinubu to seize the opportunity to create a new constitution, thereby inscribing his name in gold.
