NSCDC arrests three for ‘stealing 16,000 litres of diesel’ in Delta

Three individuals who stole approximately 16,000 liters of diesel, or automotive gas oil, were apprehended by Delta Command agents of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps.

The NSCDC Commandant in Delta, Mr. Jimoh Suleiman, paraded the robbers and the refined goods inside a big wooden boat known as the “Cotonou boat” in front of reporters in Warri on Tuesday.

Following intensive surveillance, the suspects were captured on Sunday in the Madagho community’s neighborhood in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of the state, according to the NSCDC Delta commandant, who briefed reporters.

Before the suspects were apprehended, he claimed that the Corps agents had been pursuing them for the previous three days.

The NSCDC boss expressed concern that the suspects might have tampered with pipelines saying “It is obvious that the product was vandalised somewhere”.

He said, “We are not relenting and we will not relent; we are not sleeping and we will not sleep.

“Others who are having the plan to sabotage the economy should move away from Delta because we are out for them”.

He further said, “I am here to parade the three suspects we arrested on April 21, 2024, at about 0236 hours at Shell Escravos area around Madagho village settlement.

“My boys have been out for more than three days on the trail of the suspects before we were fortunate to arrest them on Sunday.

“They were apprehended alongside nine GP tanks with four of the tanks loaded with products, two pumping machines, a generator and a counting machine.”
