Obi Replies Omokri On Not Building Any School As Anambra Governor

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate for 2023, has criticized the practice of constructing new schools while existing ones remain neglected.

Obi’s comments came in response to a challenge by Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, who offered a reward of $10,000 to anyone who could provide evidence of a school built by Obi during his tenure as governor of Anambra State.

Speaking to reporters in Abuja on April 24, Obi emphasized the importance of providing basic necessities to citizens. He stated, “I improved the quality of life, physical and mental well-being of my people. Schools had the essentials they required, and the people excelled.”

Obi argued that constructing new schools while existing ones are in disrepair is akin to building coastal lines while neglecting internal roads. He said, “Building new schools when the old ones are moribund is like building coastal lines when internal roads are impassable.”

Omokri’s challenge, issued several days ago, has yet to receive a response from Obi’s camp. Omokri has requested evidence of a nursery or primary school initiated and completed by Obi during his governorship. As of this writing, no such evidence has been presented.
