Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Bolu Owotomo
In an effort to ensure food sufficiency and safety of farmers, the Ogun State Government has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the state command of Agro Rangers to check mate farmers and herders clash in securing agricultural assets across the state.
Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Bolu Owotomo, disclosed this while playing host to the Deputy Commandant in charge of Agro Rangers, Ogun State Command of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), AbdulRaheem Waheed in Abeokuta, saying the Ministry would collaborate with them to put an end to the activities of land grabbers on agricultural land.
Hon. Owotomo noted that, the partnership would ensure that farmers focus on producing food without disruptions, adding that the Ministry and Agro Rangers would hold periodic meetings to review activities, formulate strategies and improve performance.
Earlier in his speech, the Deputy Commandant, Ogun Agro Rangers, emphasised the importance of collaboration between the state and the Rangers to achieve food sufficiency in line with government agenda.
He urged farmers and herders to seek help from law enforcement agencies when conflicts arise, rather than taking laws into their own hands.
