Ondo Lawmaker Leaves PDP to Join APC
Ondo Congressman Switches Parties from PDP to APC

Hon. Festus Olanrewaju Akingbaso, the representative for Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in Ondo State, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made during the House plenary on Wednesday by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, who read a letter from the lawmaker conveying his defection.
This move was met with enthusiastic applause from APC members present in the chamber, while members of the opposition expressed mixed reactions.
In related political news, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia North has expressed strong support for the APC, asserting that the party is driven by a genuine love for Nigeria and its citizens. He confidently predicted that the APC will secure victory in the 2027 elections, regardless of opposition efforts to challenge its dominance.
Kalu highlighted that many party members are actively investing in various sectors across the country to bolster economic development and create jobs beyond government initiatives. Speaking to Senate reporters at the National Assembly in Abuja, he attributed the widespread support for President Bola Tinubu to his effective leadership, insisting that the opposition coalition will not hinder the President’s bid for re-election in 2027.
“The APC remains unshaken by any opposition alliances. We are the ruling party, committed to Nigeria’s progress. Many of our members are investing in industries nationwide to generate employment and stimulate growth beyond what the government alone can achieve,” Kalu stated.
