An Osun state lawmaker, Bamidele Salam, has accused the All Progressive Congress (APC) of orchestrating the primary election held by factional members of the Accord Party in a bid to stop the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, from being on the ballot for the 2026 Osun election.
NPO Reported that a faction of the Accord Party had on Sunday conducted a parallel primary election with Bamigbola Clement declared as its candidate for the August 8, 2026, governorship poll.
This was however declared null by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who in a statement issued on Monday affirmed the party’s primary election which produced Adeleke as its candidate as the only recognised primaries.
Prior to INEC’s declaration, Salam had in a post on his Instagram handle declared the factional Accord Party primaries as fake, alleging that it was invented by the APC.
The lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South, Ejigbo, and Egbedore Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, further highlighted other alleged plots by the APC to frustrate Adeleke’s administration since inception.
He slammed the APC over lack of trust in theirown pedigree to win the hearts of the electorate without resorting to intimidation, manipulation, bribery, and corruption.
“In his first term bid, you cooked up lies on certificates, it failed. You invented fake videos, procured fake lawsuits and used all manner of manipulation and all failed.
“In Government, you starve him of funds, manipulate courts, threaten state of emergency and forcefully occupy local governments in commando manner all in a bid to stop the giant strides he is making in governance, but all to nought.
“You have seized funds meant for local governments for almost one year now. Yet he continues to pay local government workers, maintain primary health centres, fix roads and do other things meant to be executed with the funds you seized.
“You employed some hyena to tear down his political party from the top but he escaped and got a platform to contest for another term.
“Now, you started again by inventing fake factional primaries just to stop him from being on the ballot.
“You constantly boast of Federal might to use security forces to manipulate the electoral process in your favour.
“You don’t want a fair contest for power.
“You don’t trust your own pedigree to win the hearts of the electorate.
“You don’t believe that you have what it takes to win elections without threats, without intimidation, without bribery, and without manipulations!” Salam wrote.
The lawmaker further accused the APC of planning evil against Adeleke despite his call for peace and support of President Bola Tinubu.
He however expressed confidence that the governor will, alongside others who love Osun state, overcome the hurdle.
“In all of these, he continues to preach peace, love and harmony. He paid you several arrears of the monies your own government owed you while in office. He approved many privileges for your leaders without making any noise about it.
“He even openly adopted your Presidential candidate and has not for once opened his mouth to insult or demean the President or his office.
“Yet, all you do day and night is to plan and speak evil against him, against his office and against the state he governs.
“In spite of all these, Adeleke remains calm, quiet, joyful and hopeful in God as he works hard to serve the people and dances well to praise His God.
“I am percent sure that all will be well with him and with everyone who truly loves Osun State.” The lawmaker added.
