PANDEF Celebrates Goodluck Jonathan at 68, Obong Victor Attah at 87, Applauds Their Enduring Legacy
Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has paid glowing tribute to two of Nigeria’s most respected statesmen—former President Goodluck Jonathan and elder statesman Obong Victor Attah—as both leaders mark milestone birthdays.
In a heartfelt message issued by its National Chairman, Amb. Dr. Godknows Boladei Igali, the regional body described Jonathan, who turned 68, and Attah, who clocked 87, as “fathers” whose lives and contributions continue to shape the destiny of the South-South and the nation at large.
PANDEF said it was grateful to God for sustaining the two leaders with life, wisdom, and the strength to make lasting impacts across academia, architecture, politics, and national development. The statement noted that their footprints in public service have inspired generations of Nigerians to pursue excellence.
Dr. Igali highlighted their unwavering commitment to democracy, good governance, and national unity, applauding their relentless advocacy for the Niger Delta’s development and rights.
According to him, their efforts helped entrench key reforms, including fiscal federalism and the landmark 13 percent derivation principle, as well as environmental remediation initiatives that continue to define the region’s struggles and victories.
“As you mark these special days, we give thanks for the gift of life,” the statement read. He reaffirmed PANDEF’s admiration for both men, adding that their achievements had earned them a revered place among Nigeria’s most illustrious leaders.
Quoting scripture, he prayed: “With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation,” expressing hopes for continued health, peace, and joy for the celebrants.
PANDEF concluded its message with warm wishes: “Congratulations, and happy birthday, Sirs!”
