Pat Utomi Clears Air On Tinubu Funding Peter Obi’s Presidential Campaign

Pat Utomi, a political economist, has disputed accusations that President-elect Bola Tinubu backed the election of Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate Peter Obi.

This comes on the heels of a report by an LP candidate in Oyo State, Tawfiq Akinwale, claiming Tinubu asked Utomi to step aside in order for Peter Obi to run in the 2023 general elections. Utomi, on the other hand, described the claim as false. “As for funding PO, I am astounded by this misinformation.

“The outpouring of resources from citizens in support groups, combined with PO’s prudent use of his own funds, was so inspiring that I turned to ODs to fund my own activities in support of the campaign for faith in saving Nigeria.”

Pat Utomi wrote via his verified Twitter handle, “Truly if any flow from BAT came to me, I would quickly withdraw money I spent at his urging in 2007 paid to an international PR agency for an Orange revolution-type campaign to stop 3rd term but not refunded. “Details are in the book I wrote 4 years ago. It would have helped my cash flow. “As for funding PO, I cannot but be amazed at this disinformation.”
