PDP Governor Appoints 573 New Aides, Increases Number to 707

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has approved the appointment of 573 additional political aides, bringing the total number of special aides in the state to 707.

This announcement was made in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Gebon Timothy Kataps, on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the new appointees will serve in various capacities, including Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, Special Advisers, and Community Special Assistants. However, like the earlier 134 appointees, they have not been assigned specific responsibilities yet.

The move by the governor who is a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), is seen as a continuation of his efforts to enhance governance and service delivery to the people of Taraba State. However, some residents have expressed disappointment and criticism over the appointment of such a large number of political aides.

A party chieftain, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the governor’s action as uncalled for and doubted that it would attract any development to the state. “With the current economic hardship, I don’t personally welcome the idea of engaging the services of such a large number of political aides,” the chieftain said.
