According to a news that was published by the Thisday Newspaper online this morning, it was reported that Nigerians, as well as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are closely monitoring the former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, to know if he will accept his ministerial nomination by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu or not. This stems from his previous negative comments against the All Progressives Congress, APC.
It was reported that the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, was in dilemma, since his nomination as a minister, as he is further said to be under pressure of rejecting the post, as the old videos of him vowing not to be a minister, and him not joining the APC floods social media.
While a source in the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Working Committee, who spoke under the condition of anonymity was reacting to this development, he said, “PDP is expected to decide on him (Wike) tomorrow. PDP, Nigerians are watching Wike, if he will go to the same party he accused of been cancerous. The party is waiting to see whether the former governor would present himself for ministerial screening.”
Further talking, he said, “Wike had on many occasions vowed that he would not defect to the All Progressives Congress and that he did not want to be a minister as well. But, he has been named in President Bola Tinubu’s 28-man ministerial list that was submitted to the Senate last Thursday.”
The source said Wike will be seen as someone who is hypocritical if he joins the party he accused of been cancerous.
