Peace in Rivers Was Strengthened by Fubara’s Maturity – UNYF

The Unified Nigeria Youth Forum (UNYF) has commended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for maintaining composure and dignity amid the feud between him and former governor Nyesom Wike.

A statement by the director, media and publicity of UNYF, Mayowa Ajibade, said his maturity in the face of adversity was commendable and reflected Fubara’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and maintaining peace in the oil-rich Rivers State.

He, however, expressed on reported cases of missing persons, activities of ‘One Chance’ robbery syndicates and escalating incidents of kidnapping for ransom which have become prevalent in the nation’s capital.

He urged Wike as the minister of FCT to tackle the menace.

“The primary concern of UNYF is the safety and security of all Nigerians, and we firmly believe that it is paramount to address these issues effectively and efficiently. We call on the minister of FCT to shift his focus towards ensuring the safety of the FCT,” he said.

He condemned accusations made by Wike on Fubara’s alleged involvement in the burning of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

“No sane governor will inflict economic damage in his state despite obvious growing poverty in the country,” he said.

Ajibade also called on the security agencies to maintain neutrality and not succumb to any undue influence, during the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan.
