Peter Obi Reacts When Asked About The Legality Of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Swearing-in On Monday

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the last election, Peter Obi has reacted when asked about the legality of the new president’s swearing-in on Monday.

The outgoing President, Muhammadu Buhari will hand over to the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu tomorrow at the Eagle Square in Abuja.

 

Recall that Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress Asiwaju defeated other strong contenders including Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party to clinch the apex political seat in the country. He will be sworn in on the 29th of May, 2023 at the Eagle Square in Abuja.

The presidential candidates of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and that of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar are currently challenging the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the Presidential Election Tribunal in Abuja. The presidential election Tribunal commenced sitting two weeks ago to hear the cases by the parties.

Reacting to the forthcoming Inauguration, Peter Obi said; “There are issues with Nigeria’s democracy, but we must live peacefully and focus on addressing the country’s challenges such as security, poverty, education, and other crucial matters that require our attention.”

Peter Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State made the statement while addressing the newsmen after attending a wedding ceremony at Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna.

When asked about the legality of the new president’s swearing-in on Monday, he said, “Well, the court will decide. As I mentioned earlier, we must continue to pursue peace, religious harmony, ethnic harmony, and coexistence. These are the most important things at the moment.”
