Police Begin Enforcement Of Tinted Glass Permit Following Court Ruling

The Nigerian Police Force has said that the plan to enforce the tinted glass permit has now been suspended. This came after a court ordered the force to maintain the status quo on the matter.
SP Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the force, disclosed the development while speaking in an interview on AIT on Wednesday, October 8.
When did the police suspend tinted glass policy
According to her, the decision to suspend the enforcement was taken after the police officially received the court order. She further noted that the suspension would remain until the end of the ongoing legal process on the matter.
Adeh also addressed public concerns on the purpose of the tinted glass regulation, adding that it was introduced following security concerns, where some criminal activities were carried out using vehicles with tinted windows.

The police spokesperson also dismissed the claim that the policy was designed to extort Nigerians, adding that all payments relating to the tinted glass permit were made to the Treasury Single Account (TSA) of the federal government and not the force.
