Police in Sokoto arrest motorcycle thieves

The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested Kabiru Abubakar, a specialist in motorcycle theft, alongside several of his accomplices.

ASP Ahmad Rufai, the command’s spokesman, in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday, stated that the suspect was arrested after stealing a motorcycle parked at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital.

“Kabiru Abubakar Alias, ‘m’, aged 25, has been arrested by Sokoto State Police Command’s Striking Force for allegedly stealing a motorcycle from where it was parked at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) on July 5, 2024.

“The motorcycle was recovered upon the arrest of the suspect, and the owner of the motorcycle identified it as his.” The statement read.

Rufai further revealed that Abubakar confessed to the crime and admitted to stealing another motorcycle at Rahamat Clinic, Sokoto, belonging to one Naziru Muhammad from Kano Road.

He said Abubakar also identified one Kabiru Yaro from the Bello Way Area, Sokoto, as his receiver, stating that further investigations led to the recovery of six motorcycles.

The statement added that the suspects would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
